Bill started work at Kangan Institute in the Polymer Engineering Centre as a teacher and subject matter expert writing content for online and print-based learning resources. In 2003 Bill was appointed as Manager of the Polymer Centre, and in 2005 the Transport and Logistics Centre where he assisted with the establishment of the Competitive Manufacturing Centre.

Bill became Curriculum Maintenance Manager for Automotive and Assistant Manager of LRD in early 2008 undertaking course reaccreditations, training package implementation projects, and training needs analyses. He has been managing LRD since September 2010.

Assistant Manager

Filly has extensive experience in teaching and project management and is responsible for providing Institute-wide leadership in the use of innovative e learning strategies and solutions. Filly was a recipient of an Australian Flexible Learning Framework (AFLF) Flexible Learning Leaders scholarship, undertaking an investigation into the issue of self-directed learning for apprentices and trainees.

Filly has a Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership and Training, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Education, and a Diploma in Technical Teaching.

Michelle Phelan - Project Manager T.S.S

Michelle Phelan

Project Manager

Michelle Phelan worked as a teacher within the business and management field before taking up a project management role for the implementation of Kangan Institute’s first learning management system (TAFEVC). She has led many innovation projects developing products now used within the Institute and across the VET sector. Currently she leads the Teaching Support Service providing consultancy advice and professional development to teaching managers and their staff in the strategic application of flexible and e-learning solutions.

Michelle has a Masters in Professional Education and Training (Flexible, Online and Distance Education).

Paula McKenry - Project Manager/Instructional Designer

Paula is the project manager and principal trainer responsible for providing professional learning for educational support staff in the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Prior to joining Kangan Institute, Paula accumulated over ten years’ experience consulting to the private sector.In her current role she is able to combine a broad understanding of commercial issues with LLN teaching experience and expertise in resource development and delivery.

Paula has a Master of Arts (TESOL), a Graduate Diploma of Education, a Bachelor of Arts and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Linda Stannard - Project Manager/Business Activity

Linda has sixteen years’ experience in e-learning, working with Kangan Institute for seven years as a Quality Manager on Flexible Learning Toolboxes and more recently as Project Manager with LRD. She is team leader for the multimedia team, her role focusing mainly on resource development for external clients, discussing their training needs and developing solutions to make learning easier to access and more interesting to study for those in the workplace.

Linda has a Graduate Certificate in Online Learning, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and an Associate Diploma of Business Administration.

Tim Verkerk - Project Officer/Instructional Designer

Senior Educator/Instructional Designer

Tim brings ten years of teaching experience in automotive electrical training to his role as an instructional designer. Since joining LRD, he has worked on projects ranging from writing national units of competence to the development of online interactive learning activities for a wide range of areas including automotive, building, business, security and electrics.

Tim is currently part of the multimedia team working on the creation of engaging and creative learning solutions for improving numeracy skills in trade areas. He has a Diploma of Teaching.



Colin Foote - Project Officer/Instructional Designer

Colin has 25 years teaching experience in the automotive and information technology fields. He has been working as an instructional designer in LRD since 2007 incorporating his experience in information technology, flexible delivery and online education into the design and development of online educational products. He specialises in the use of interactive media such as video and animation to demonstrate concepts that are otherwise difficult for learners to visualise.

Colin has a Graduate Diploma Education (Computers in Education) and a Diploma of Technical Teaching.

Maria Juj - Project Officer/Instructional Designer

Maria has extensive teaching experience in the vocational education sector in business management, organisational development and mechanical technology. She has delivered and assessed at all levels from Certificate II to Diploma using a variety of delivery strategies. Maria develops print and online teaching and learning resources in LRD and is a member of the Teaching and Learning Template working party.

Maria's qualifications include a Master of Education (Work and Learning), Graduate Diploma of Education (VET), Bachelor of Business ( Business Administration), Diploma of Management and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. Currently studying a Master of Teaching (TESOL).

Jan Van Leest - Project Officer/Instructional Designer

Jan has over 18 years’ experience as an instructional designer and project manager for print and online products across many fields of education such as Aerospace, Information Technology, Chemical Plant Operation, Insurance, and Nursing. She has conducted research projects, designed curriculum for Victorian state accreditation and contributed to professional development programs.

Jan’s qualifications include a Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies in Reading and Language, a Graduate Certificate of Instructional Design, and a Postgraduate Diploma of Education and Training.

David Danson - Project Officer/Instructional Designer

David Danson

Dave has been employed with Kangan Institute initially as a teacher and program leader within the Engineering department. Now working in LRD as an instructional designer, his main focus is the development of engaging print-based material and innovative online learning content for trade areas specifically for automotive, engineering, building and carpentry.

Dave has a Diploma of Technical Teaching, Certificate III in Engineering, and is currently studying the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Max Richings - KI Online Platform Administrator

Max has had extensive teaching experience over many years in automotive and information technology before moving into e-learning where he has developed, delivered and provided support to staff.

In his current role as Platform Administrator he provides advice and technical support for teaching and support departments in the operation and application of flexible e-learning solutions utilising the Institute’s online e-learning platform. Max’s qualifications include a Graduate Diploma in Education Administration, an Advanced Diploma in Information Technology (Programming) and a Graduate Certificate in Information Technology.

Curriculum Maintenance Manager(CMM)

Pat holds the position of Curriculum Maintenance Manager for the automotive sector. He has a teaching background with delivery experience in heavy vehicle and light vehicle service and repair and training and assessment. He has eleven years’ experience in the automotive industry and several years teaching in the secondary system.

Pat has a Master of Arts, Bachelor of Education, and Postgraduate Diploma (Arts).

Sean Norrey - Multimedia Developer

Sean Norrey

Multimedia Developer

Sean has specialised in developing multimedia interactions for use in learning. He has been involved with the development of seven Flexible Learning Toolboxes and five Flexible Learning Innovations projects. He has created hundreds of learning objects, and worked on many large and small jobs in between for a diverse range of clients. Sean has also been involved in researching the development of educational applications for the Nintendo Wii and iPhone.

Sean has an Advanced Diploma in Multimedia, and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Shani Marshall - Multimedia Developer

Shani Marshall

Multimedia Developer

Shani completed her Diploma of Multimedia with Kangan Batman TAFE in 2006. She won the Silver medal for ‘Student of the Year’ and also won ‘best Video/Animation’ award for her year. In 2006, she was recruited by LRD and has since completed the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and gained an Advanced Diploma of Multimedia. Shani enjoys working with the multimedia team, finding and planning innovative solutions to meet client needs.

Shani's strengths are graphic design, web development, desktop publishing, photography and video/audio production.

Ben Brown - Multimedia Developer

Ben commenced at Kangan Institute as a multimedia teacher, delivering a range of courses from Certificate II to Diploma level with secondary school students and adult learners. He moved into multimedia design and development with an all-round knowledge of multimedia and has developed considerable skills in the specialised areas of areas of photography, video and audio. From his experience in teaching and multimedia, he has developed a strong appreciation and knowledge of user experience.

Ben has an Advanced Diploma in Multimedia and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Sasha Cokorilo - Multimedia Developer

Sasha Cokorilo

Multimedia Developer

Sasha joined the LRD multimedia team in 2009. He is an experienced illustrator and his hand drawing skills are used extensively in both print and online resources. Sasha is an experienced animator and has a particular interest in the use of animation for conveying difficult concepts. He is also a web developer with highly developed skills in CSS and HTML. These skills have been used in the production of Flexible Learning Toolboxes and a range of other online resources.

Sasha has a Certificate IV in Multimedia.

Roula Atieh - Teacher/Printing and Graphic Arts

Roula has worked in LRD since 2005 teaching Certificate II in Printing and Graphic Arts at the Craigieburn Flexible Learning Centre. Roula is also working with two other Kangan departments, the Library and Learning Centre and Language Studies. Roula has a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, a Diploma of Business, a Certificate II in Printing and Graphic Arts and she is currently undertaking the Diploma of VET Practice.

Alison has extensive industry experience having started her career as a secretary/word processing operator and changed roles to an information technology teacher in the early 1990’s. Alison has worked for Kangan Institute for ten years and has been with LRD since 2005 teaching flexible learning students in the Certificate II, III, IV and Diploma of Business at the CFLC. Alison has a Graduate Diploma in Business Technology and a Diploma of Business.

Julie Wray Mcann - Teacher/Certificate in General Education

Julie has worked at Kangan Institute for the past four years teaching VCAL, CGEA and Business Studies. She has over twenty years teaching experience across Australia and overseas. Julie has worked as a teacher librarian, learning support teacher and mentor to beginning teachers and teacher aides. She has a particular interest in improving literacy and numeracy outcomes in the vocational education sector. She has a Bachelor of Education (Teacher Librarianship) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Alina Daniliuc - Senior Administrative Officer

Alina started her career as a database programmer. She has worked much of her time with LRD in the role of Senior Administrator. As well as supporting the manager and project staff with administrative, project and business management functions, Alina assists with the administration of the learning management system and undertakes additional work with desktop publishing and event management. Alina has a Bachelor of Business Management, Diploma of Frontline Management, Associate Diploma of Business (Micro-computing), and a Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training.
